Metadata Security
Metadata injection (T8) is an often-overlooked attack vector where attackers embed malicious payloads in document properties (Title, Author, Subject) rather than the body text.
Attack Vectors
1. Buffer Overflows
By injecting massive strings (e.g., 100MB of 'A' characters) into the Title field, attackers can crash older PDF parsers or consume excessive memory in the processing pipeline.
DocFirewall Defense: Enforces strict length limits (default: 5000 chars) on all metadata values.
2. Syntax Injection (XSS / SQLi)
If the metadata is later displayed in a web dashboard or stored in a database without sanitization, it can lead to XSS or SQL Injection.

3. Prompt Injection via Metadata
Attackers may hide instructions in metadata, hoping the RAG system indexes metadata alongside content.
